The Pencils at Work

I spend 10 minutes trying to sharpen 5 pencils that keep breaking in the sharpener before I finally have decently sharpened pencils.  I then sit down  and low and behold each pencil breaks as it touches the paper.  I don't press hard, I write very gently... but these pencils hate me and everyone else at the center.
